Through training workshops, access to learning resources and work placement opportunities, we aim to empower the Indigenous tourism industry and workforce.
What is the ITTI?
The Indigenous Tourism Training Initiative (ITTI) empowers Indigenous tourism professionals to take the lead. We partner with industry experts to deliver quality tourism training across the province. We also offer in-house ITBC workshops led by our team.
We fully fund tourism training across the following key areas:
“The Indigenous Tourism Training Initiative goes beyond building skills—it empowers our people to lead with pride, grounded in our cultural teachings. This program ensures that Indigenous voices and traditions are at the forefront of sustainable tourism, creating opportunities that honour our heritage while fostering economic strength in our communities.”
– Chatman Shaw, Corporate Services Manager

“ITBC has been integral in setting the path towards success for our expansion into the Vancouver Harbour. We have had one-on-one training, and advice in many areas to help build our skills in marketing, photography, social media, and event planning. We feel so supported as small business owners which is incredibly important, and it helps boost our confidence.”
– Alison Evans, owner of Gulf Island Seaplanes
