The Chef at Big Bar Guest Ranch oversees the Kitchen & Restaurant operations, ensuring alignment with the Board’s vision and objectives. This role involves managing the Food Services Department, maintaining kitchen and restaurant facilities, and creating exceptional culinary experiences for guests. The Chef collaborates with the Ranch Manager, builds relationships with community groups, funding agencies, and external partners, and supports the ranch’s development as a tourism destination. This multi-disciplinary role requires skills in customer service, marketing, financial management, kitchen maintenance, and staff supervision.
Education & Experience:
– Red Seal Certification or equivalent experience in managing a full-service restaurant
– Food Safe and First Aid Certification are mandatory.
– 3-5 years of experience in opening or managing a full-service restaurant.
– Experience in cooking Indigenous and cultural foods for various group sizes.
– Proven ability to supervise Food Services staff and ensure compliance with health codes.
– Experience in funding applications, tourism promotion, and event planning.
Skills & Abilities:
– Expertise in menu development and meal presentation using local and Indigenous ingredients.
– Menu planning and quality assurance of meals.
– Ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and compliance with health regulations.
– Ordering supplies and managing inventory.
– Budget management and cost control.
Working Conditions:
