Indigenous Tourism BC is showcasing the leadership and innovation of Indigenous tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic. As we navigate this new normal, there is a strength and resilience of Indigenous tourism businesses that needs to be celebrated. We understand it is not business as usual and it has been a difficult year in so many ways. It is inspiring to see the commitment of the Indigenous tourism industry focused on the health and safety of staff and guests.
Indigenous Tourism BC is honoured to share their story.
Visit Skwachàys Lodge and Gallery in Vancouver, BC to experience a showcase of Indigenous artwork representative of over 150 Indigenous artists from across British Columbia which has been woven throughout the hotel and is available for purchase in the gallery. Skwachàys Lodge and Gallery is a social enterprise, with revenue from the hotel supporting Indigenous artists who create works on-site and display them in the gallery for purchase. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic Skwachays have always shown leadership and innovation in their support of Indigenous artists, but they have also capitalized on this time to refresh their gallery and rooms with an emphasis on health and safety as they prepare to welcome guests in the Hotel and continue to serve guests in the gallery, in-store and online.
