    Becoming a Stakeholder

Indigenous Tourism BC welcomes you to become a Stakeholder and connect with community, resources, and support.

Since 1996, ITBC has grown from a passionate grassroots effort to a global leader in Indigenous tourism. At the heart of our mission is a truth we’ve always known: Everything is Connected. Our lands, our waters, our stories, our People—woven together in a way that cannot be separated. This belief shapes everything we do.

As a Stakeholder with Indigenous Tourism BC, you will be part of a diverse and growing community that is dedicated to empowering Indigenous futures and inspiring global visitors through tourism.

Be part of ITBC’s development, training, partnership, and marketing initiatives. Together, we can build skills, make connections, and share stories that will prepare you, your business, and your community for sustainable success.

Your Story Matters.

Tourism isn’t just about places—it’s about People and stories. Your voice, your knowledge, and your experience shape how visitors come to understand the lands they walk on. When you become a Stakeholder, you help ensure those stories are told with truth, respect, and pride.

Who Can Become a Stakeholder?

Whether you are just starting your tourism business, operating a thriving business, offering cultural guidance, or supporting development through services—you belong here.

Benefits

As a Stakeholder with Indigenous Tourism BC, you gain more than just access to services—you join a community. A community working together to grow Indigenous tourism in a way that is authentic, sustainable, and deeply grounded in Indigenous values and voices.

We are here to serve our members by walking alongside you in your tourism journey—from operation beginnings to growth. Whether you’re a First Nation community, an entrepreneur, a culture keeper, or a service provider, ITBC offers guidance, tools, and relationships to help you succeed.

Through training, funding, and marketing initiatives, we help elevate tourism offerings, broaden the reach of Indigenous stories and experiences, and amplify the voices of First Nations and Indigenous tourism leaders.

Pillars of Support

We champion Indigenous tourism at every level—regional, provincial, national, and global. By advocating for Indigenous rights, representation, and economic inclusion, we help ensure your voice is heard and your interests are protected.

Authentic Indigenous Designation Program

Eligible Stakeholders have the opportunity to enter the Authentic Indigenous Designation Program, which provides additional business and marketing benefits. The program includes two designations: the Indigenous-owned designation, and the Authentic-Indigenous designation.

These designations provide a cohesive marketing program across the province, and inform visitors that they are engaging with Indigenous cultures meaningfully and respectfully.
