Indigenous Tourism BC (ITBC) signs Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with organizations to express mutual respect and commitment to the shared goal of building strong Indigenous regional economies in the tourism industry.

We aim to preserve and share culture, honour differences and advance the quality of life for Indigenous people in BC.

MOUs define how the respective parties will cooperate and participate in a coordinated approach and include specific terms and agreements regarding the sharing of resources and other considerations. These agreements represent the organizations’ dedication to pull together for Indigenous success in the accelerating tourism industry in BC.

Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association and Indigenous Tourism BC, 2019

This MOU was signed by the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association and Indigenous Tourism BC as an agreement to establish a coordinated and collaborative approach to the advancement of a competitive, sustainable, and socially conscious Indigenous tourism industry in the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast region. The two organizations will combine efforts to contribute to cultural understanding and economic prosperity in the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Region.

Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada and Indigenous Tourism BC, 2019

This MOU was signed by the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada and Indigenous Tourism BC to advance a competitive and socially conscious Indigenous tourism industry while contributing to Indigenous cultural understanding and economic prosperity. The continued sharing of experiences between the two organizations is a critical element in achieving a vibrant Indigenous tourism in Canada and British Columbia.

Northern BC Tourism Association and Indigenous Tourism BC, 2018

This MOU was signed by Northern BC Tourism Association and Indigenous Tourism BC to coordinate a collaborative approach to achieve a shared objective of promoting the growth of Indigenous cultural tourism in keeping with the community objectives and aspirations in the Northern Region of British Columbia. The two organizations will work together to create new market demand for tourism experiences by promoting awareness of the value of an Indigenous-led tourism industry to Stakeholders, policymakers, and organizations.

Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association and Indigenous Tourism BC, 2017

This MOU was signed by Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association and Indigenous Tourism BC to promote thoughtful and respectful tourism development with shared effort and resources. The two parties agree to work together to support economic gains from employment and entrepreneurship and uphold the social and environmental objectives of communities by providing opportunities to be on the land, to learn and share local Indigenous and culture, and to steward and monitor impacts on the land and water.

British Columbia Assembly of First Nations and Indigenous Tourism BC, 2019

BC Assembly of First Nations and Indigenous Tourism BC signed this MOU as an agreement to work together to create a prosperous Indigenous tourism Industry that benefits Indigenous People and respects the Title and Rights and Treaty Rights of Indigenous Nations. The collaboration prioritizes mutual success and sees that the two parties will jointly work with tourism, business, education and government organizations to build a vibrant membership in support of Indigenous success in BC.

Tourism Vancouver Island and Indigenous Tourism BC, 2019

Tourism Vancouver Island and Indigenous Tourism BC signed this MOU in recognition of the power of collaboration and the benefits of leveraging each other’s unique perspectives and programs. They agree to share expertise and resources to further the common goal of supporting Indigenous communities and entrepreneurs and developing a sustainable tourism economy on Vancouver Island.
